The State Uniform Construction Code has been established by
the State of New Jersey, New Jersey Commissioner of Community Affairs,
pursuant to New Jersey State Statutes and has a force and effective
role in the Township. A copy of the code shall be on file in the office
of the Township Clerk. The Commissioner has also adopted subcodes
of the State Uniform Construction Code, including, but not limited
to, a Building Code, a Plumbing Code, an Electrical Code, an Energy
Code, an Elevator Code and a Fire Protection Code which also have
the force and effective role in the Township. Copies of same are also
on file in the office of the Township Clerk. The code shall be enforced
by the Bordentown Township Construction Code Enforcement Agency. The
Construction Code Official, as a chief administrator of the enforcing
agency, shall be responsible for the enforcement of the codes.

A. Construction Official/Code Enforcement Officer. There shall be a Construction Official/Code Enforcement Officer who shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee and who shall perform such duties as shall be prescribed for the position by law and the rules applicable to the Township Construction Code Enforcement Agency. The position's duties shall include, but not be limited to, administration of all aspects of the Township Construction Code Enforcement Agency, performance of the requirements of §
500-1003, Enforcement, of Chapter
500, Land Development, supervision of the performance of the Township code enforcement requirements and personnel, and the performance of code enforcement activities when necessary.
B. Building Subcode Official. In
accordance with this chapter, there shall be a Building Subcode Official
who shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee
and who shall perform such duties as shall be prescribed for the position
by law and the rules applicable to the Township Construction Code
Enforcement Agency. The position's duties shall include, but not be
limited to, the inspection, review and approval of buildings, housing,
other applicable structures and construction to ensure that all work
conforms to the requirements of approved plans, building and construction
subcodes, and the regulations of the State Uniform Construction Code.
C. Plumbing Subcode Official. In
accordance with this chapter, there shall be a Plumbing Subcode Official
who shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee
and who shall perform such duties as shall be prescribed for the position
by law and the rules applicable to the Township Construction Code
Enforcement Agency. The position's duties shall include, but not be
limited to, the inspection, review and approval of plumbing work in
structures and construction to ensure that all work conforms to the
requirements of approved plans, the plumbing subcodes, and the regulations
of the State Uniform Construction Code.
D. Fire Subcode Official. In accordance
with this chapter, there shall be a Fire Subcode Official who shall
be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee and who
shall perform such duties as shall be prescribed for the position
by law and the rules applicable to the Township Construction Code
Enforcement Agency. The position's duties shall include, but not be
limited to, the inspection, review and approval of buildings, housing,
other applicable structures and sites, and construction to ensure
that all conditions present conform to the requirements of approved
plans, fire subcodes, and the regulations of the State Uniform Construction
Code.
E. Electrical Subcode Official. In
accordance with this chapter, there shall be an Electrical Subcode
Official who shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township
Committee and who shall perform such duties as shall be prescribed
for the position by law and the rules applicable to the Township Construction
Code Enforcement Agency. The position's duties shall include, but
not be limited to, the inspection, review and approval of electrical
work in structures and construction to ensure that all work conforms
to the requirements of approved plans, the electrical and energy subcodes,
and the regulations of the State Uniform Construction Code.
