All powers of the Township and the determination of all matters
of policy shall be vested in the Township Committee, except as otherwise
provided by general law or this chapter.
The members of the Committee shall receive such salary or compensation
as the Committee shall from time to time fix by ordinance.
The Mayor shall be so elected by a majority vote of all members
of the Township Committee. The selection of the Mayor shall be made
at the annual organization meeting of the Committee. At that time
the Committee shall also designate a Committee member as Deputy Mayor.

In addition to the Bordentown Township Emergency Coordinator,
the following Township officials are authorized to declare an emergency:
B. In the event of the Mayor's unavailability, then
the Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor shall have only such powers and duties as Mayor as
are expressly vested in the Mayor by this chapter. The Deputy Mayor
shall have all the rights, powers and duties of the Mayor but shall
act only in the absence or disability of the Mayor. The Mayor shall
preside at all meetings of the Township Committee and shall have a
voice and vote in its proceedings. In the absence of the Mayor and
Deputy Mayor, the Municipal Clerk shall call the Committee to order
and it shall thereupon elect a temporary chair. Upon the arrival of
the Mayor, the temporary chair shall immediately relinquish the chair
to the Mayor upon the conclusion of the business immediately before
the Committee. All bonds, notes, deeds, contracts and written obligations
of the Township shall be executed on its behalf by the Mayor or Deputy
Mayor, or in the event of their inability to act, by such Committee
members as the Committee shall designate to act as Mayor during their
disability. Where permitted by law, the Committee may also empower
the Administrator to act on behalf of the Committee.
The Committee may convene at any time in informal conference
for the preliminary study of Township business or to plan for the
agendas of its future meetings. All conferences shall comply with
the Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq.
A majority of all the members elected to the Committee shall
constitute a quorum at any regular or special meeting of the Committee,
but a lesser number than a quorum may adjourn any meeting. If no member
of the Committee is present 1/2 hour after the appointed time for
any meeting, the Clerk shall adjourn the meeting.
Orders of business, agenda, conduct of meetings, procedure,
decorum and any and all matters pertaining to the functions of the
Committee and the carrying out of Township business at regular and
special meetings may be determined and prescribed by resolution of
the Committee annually at its organization meeting.
