Editor’s note–Printed herein is the charter of the City of Forest Hill, Texas, which was adopted at an election held on May 19, 2007. Apart from minor nonsubstantive changes in style and formatting, the charter is reproduced as it appeared in the 2013 Code of Ordinances. Capitalization, punctuation and grammar have been retained. Obviously misspelled words have been corrected without notation. Material enclosed in brackets has been added for clarification. Amendments to the charter are indicated by a history note following the amended section. The absence of a history note indicates the material is unchanged from the original charter. The prior charter was adopted by the electorate on August 14, 1976, and was amended at referendum on May 6, 1995, and May 12, 2007.
PREAMBLE
We, the people of the City of Forest Hill, Tarrant County, Texas, in order to establish a Home Rule Municipal Government, provide for the welfare and progress of our city, and obtain more fully for the citizens of [the city] the benefits of local self-government, do hereby adopt this Home Rule Charter.
