Except upon premises zoned for agricultural purposes pursuant to the zoning code, no person shall keep any goose or turkey, or more than 10, whether singly or in combination, of the following: ducks, chickens, or pigeons.

Restrictions applicable to rabbits as set forth in Sections 7.36.030 and 7.36.040 of this chapter, shall apply to those animals covered by Sections 7.36.050 and 7.36.060.

Bees, whether kept pursuant to Section 7.36.070 or upon agriculturally zoned premises, shall be kept at least 500 feet from any building or structure in which persons or animals normally live or are kept.

This chapter shall not apply to those people specified in Section 7.32.020 of Chapter 7.32.

Special permits may be granted for the maintenance of animals and poultry not in strict conformity with the provisions of this chapter, if the chief of police or designee makes a finding that because of soil, drainage, prevailing winds, absence of insect life, unusually effective sanitations measures, population density in the area, innocuousness of the animal or poultry involved, or like conditions, the public health and welfare will not be endangered thereby and such animals or poultry shall be kept in a manner consistent with the conditions, if any, imposed in such special permit and within the scope thereof.

An annual fee for a special animal permit, as established by resolution adopted by the city council, as amended from time to time, shall be paid to the police department.
