(a) 
Maintenance of all signs shall be in accordance with Indian Wells Municipal Code Chapter 17.24.
(b) 
Signs shall not be placed within any public right-of-way or public property. Placement of signs shall also be subject to all applicable provisions of Indian Wells Municipal Code Chapter 17.16 (Prohibited Signs). Single family lot/home off-site directional open house signs shall be permitted subject to the provisions outlined in Municipal Code Section 17.20.040, Table C.
(c) 
No display, device, message or other contrivance, or part thereof, shall be attached, fixed or displayed on a sign except as allowed pursuant to Table C of Municipal Code Section 17.12.040 (Real Estate Standards).
(d) 
The proposed sign will be designed, constructed, and located so that it will not constitute a hazard to the public.
(e) 
The proposed sign will not obscure from view or detract from existing signs, based on its location, shape, color and other similar considerations. Sign colors should be compatible with the architecture.
(f) 
Any sign not permitted by this Chapter is not allowed and shall not be erected within the City. Any illegal sign shall be subject to removal pursuant to Indian Wells Municipal Code Chapter 17.28 (Abatement of Illegal Signs). The fee per violation is set per the Schedule of Service Charges and permit fees adopted by resolution of the City Council from time to time.

(a) 
All permitted temporary signs erected within the City shall be a beige background with brown lettering, except beige letters shall be permitted on a brown directional arrow used for real estate open house directional signs.
(b) 
No pictorials are allowed on any permitted signs.
(c) 
Logos on real estate signs shall not exceed four (4) inches in height.
(d) 
The proposed sign will be in harmony with adjacent properties and surroundings, based on size, shape, height, color, placement and the proximity of the proposed signs to adjacent properties and surroundings.
(e) 
All signs shall be designed to be stable under all weather conditions, including high winds.
(f) 
No temporary sign shall be illuminated or painted with light-reflecting paint.

The predominant idea in authorizing signs in the commercial and industrial zones is to strive for one identification sign per complex to eliminate clutter and to promote compatibility, proportion, simplicity, and sign effectiveness. Political signs having to do with any issue, ballot measure, ballot proposition, candidate or group of candidates in any district, municipality, community, State or federal election shall be permitted as follows:
(a) 
Time Requirements. All political signs shall be removed not later than ten (10) days following the date of the election.
(b) 
Written Permission of Property Owners. The written permission of the property owner(s) for signs on private property shall be required. Such permission shall include authorization for the City or its authorized personnel to enter upon such property and remove any signs posted in violation of the provisions of this Title.
