a. 
Whenever it is necessary for an officer or employee to use a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties, such vehicle shall be furnished or the employee shall be compensated an equitable rate per mile for use of the employee's personal vehicle, as provided by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.
b. 
No officer or employee shall use a County vehicle or claim compensation for mileage except in connection with the performance of official County business.
c. 
No employee shall be assigned duties requiring use of motor vehicles except in accordance with the motor vehicle code and other applicable laws.
d. 
Seatbelts which are furnished in County vehicles shall be properly used, and every County employee shall be fully informed of this requirement.

a. 
Any officer or employee who is ordered or authorized to travel in the performance of duties shall be compensated for necessary travel expenses at actual cost, including transportation, lodging and meals.
b. 
The Board of Supervisors shall fix maximum allowable travel expenses which shall apply uniformly to all officers and employees.

a. 
When required for the convenience and benefit of the County, the appointing authority may authorize or provide meals and/or other maintenance for employees in designated classes and work assignments.
1. 
Classes and assignments to which this section routinely applies shall be designated in the annual salary ordinance.
2. 
Except as provided in the annual salary ordinance or by contracts approved by the Board of Supervisors, no person, officer or employee shall be entitled to receive any meals or other maintenance of any kind, from any County department or institution, without the specific approval of the County Executive.
b. 
When required for the convenience and benefit of the County, employees may be required to wear uniform clothing as specified by the appointing authority and approved by the Board of Supervisors.
1. 
Upon approval of the Board of Supervisors, the appointing authority may authorize the provision or partial provision for such clothing and/or the cleaning and maintenance of such clothing, or may authorize the payment of a clothing allowance in lieu of such provisions.
2. 
Classes and assignments to which this provision may apply, including the amount of clothing allowance if any, shall be designated in the annual salary ordinance.

a. 
The director of the County Welfare Department, subject to approval of the County Executive, may assign permanent employees to attend an accredited educational institution for professional or technical training, pursuant to the educational leave programs of the State Department of Social Welfare.
An employee so assigned shall not be considered absent from duty during such assignments; provided, however, that an employee, so assigned shall receive only such salary, compensation, stipend or other benefits as are provided by the State Department of Social Welfare rules and regulations governing such educational leave programs, and by agreements between the State Department of Social Welfare and the Director of the County Welfare Department.
b. 
When required for the benefit of the County, any employee may be assigned to participate in special educational and training programs.
1. 
Such assignments shall be limited to programs which are directly related to the employee's assigned duties and which provide knowledge and ability which cannot reasonably be provided on the job.
2. 
All such assignments, which are conducted outside County facilities or which include a County payment for tuition, registration fees, transportation or other costs, shall be approved in advance by the appointing authority and the County Executive or the Board of Supervisors.
3. 
All such special educational and training assignments shall be recorded and/or reported in the manner prescribed by the County Executive.
