There is hereby established the position of
Municipal Court Attendant.
The Municipal Court Attendant, under direction
of the Municipal Court Judge:
A. Shall attend sessions of the Municipal Court.
B. Shall maintain order and security in and around the
courtroom.
C. May swear in witnesses, may serve papers issued from
the Court under direction from the Court and may be responsible for
safeguarding Court property.
D. Shall perform related work as required by the Municipal
Court Judge.
To be appointed to the position of Municipal
Court Attendant, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. Possess some knowledge of the Court practices and
procedure and the techniques which could be useful in maintaining
order and security in the courtroom.
B. Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand
or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the
position.
C. Possess the ability to understand, remember and carry
out oral and written directions.
D. Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical
and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the
required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself
or others. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible
as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after
reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the
accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue
hardship, such person may not be eligible.
