No person shall play upon or use any tennis court, pickleball or paddle tennis court owned or maintained by the Village of Southampton unless each of the persons participating in a game of tennis, pickleball, paddle tennis or other purposes at a particular time thereon shall have a valid tennis/pickleball permit authorizing him to do so and, further, unless such permit is placed, by means of a chain or otherwise, at the main entrance of the court being used so as to be plainly visible to any person approaching the main entrance to such court.

No person shall be entitled to such a tennis/pickleball permit unless he is a resident of the Village of Southampton.

Tennis/pickleball permits shall be issued by the Village Clerk or by such other person as the Board of Trustees shall from time to time designate, as follows:
A. 
To a qualified resident of the Village of Southampton, upon payment of a fee as the Board of Trustees may hereafter fix by resolution of said Board, which permit shall be valid for the calendar year during which it is issued. In connection with the issuance of a family permit, a separate permit shall be issued to each of the persons who shall comprise the immediate family of the resident making application and who reside with him within the Village of Southampton, and the name of each such person shall be listed on the application for a family permit.[1]

The Board of Trustees shall, by resolution, adopt rules and regulations pertaining to the use of such courts. The violation of any of such rules and regulations shall constitute a violation of this chapter.

Any person who violates this chapter or fails to comply with any of its requirements shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalties provided in Article II of Chapter 1 of the Code of the Village of Southampton.
