There shall be a Shade Tree Commission of the
Township of Franklin.

The Shade Tree Commission shall consist of seven members and
two alternates who are residents of the Township appointed by the
Township Manager, and they shall serve for staggered five-year terms.
One member shall also be a member of the Environmental Commission.
One member shall be an employee of the Township Public Works and Engineering
Department. To the extent possible, a member should be employed as
a tree surgeon or involved in a tree-related business, and a member
should have an academic horticultural or landscape architecture background.
Members shall serve for their respective terms and until their successors
thereafter have been appointed and qualified.
The Shade Tree Commission shall have the power
and authority for the regulation, planting, care and control of shade
and ornamental trees and shrubbery upon or in the highways, parks
or parkways within the jurisdiction of the Township of Franklin and
shall exercise all powers and rights provided in N.J.S.A. 40:64-1
et seq., Shade Tree Commission, as amended and supplemented.
