The Town Manager, Tax Collector-Treasurer and
Deputy Tax Collector Treasurer and any other person, as determined
by the Town Council, shall give bond for the faithful discharge of
their duties to the Town of Standish, in such sum as the Council shall
determine and direct and with surety or sureties to be approved by
the Council. The premiums on said bonds shall be paid by the Town.

The Treasury Division, the head of which shall
be the Deputy Tax Collector-Treasurer, shall be responsible for the
proper and accurate accounting and recording of all money due the
Town, shall collect all bills and, in all respects, shall comply with
all laws and ordinances concerning money due or received by the Town.
All moneys received by the Treasury Division shall be deposited from
time to time, as the Finance Director may prescribe, in an official
depository designated by the Town Council to the credit of the Town
and shall be recorded and accounted for on the date received. The
Tax Collector/Treasurer, pursuant to Title 36 M.R.S.A. § 906,
is authorized to apply any tax payment received from an individual
as payment for any property tax against outstanding or delinquent
taxes due on said property in chronological order beginning with the
oldest unpaid tax bill.
