The definitions contained in the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York, so far as applicable, shall govern Part
3 of this chapter.
The Commissioner of Public Safety shall cause appropriate signs
or devices to be posted or placed in the area 24 hours prior to the
commencement of such street cleaning operations, serving notice thereby
upon owners and operators of vehicles of the temporary prohibition
against parking in the said area.
The Commissioner of Public Safety may, in his discretion, limit
the prohibition against parking, as provided herein, to only one side
of the street or highway of the designated temporary cleaning area.
A copy of the request by the Commissioner of Public Works to
the Commissioner of Public Safety, as hereinbefore provided, shall
be filed by the Commissioner of Public Works with the Clerk of the
Court of Special Sessions of the City of Mount Vernon, and upon such
filing, the Court shall take judicial notice of the contents thereof.
No vehicle shall be parked in any temporary cleaning area during
the effective period of such designation as hereinbefore provided.

Any person violating any of the provisions of Part
3 of this chapter may, upon conviction, be punished in accordance with penalties as fixed by the City Judge of the City of Mount Vernon, provided that such penalties are within the limits established as penalties for such offense or infraction.

A. It shall be the duty of the Department of Public Works, together with the Department of Public Safety, to enforce the provisions contained in §
227-64.
B. The Department of Public Works shall have the power, through authorized
employees designated by the Mayor, to issue summonses and file informations
concerning any violation of any such provisions.
