The Office of Township Engineer, heretofore established by the Township
Committee, is hereby created, continued and confirmed. The Township Engineer
shall be a licensed professional engineer qualified to engage in professional
engineering in the State of New Jersey. The Township Engineer shall be appointed
by the Township Committee for a term of three years. In lieu of appointing
an individual, a firm of engineers may be appointed, the principal members
of which shall be licensed professional engineers qualified to engage in professional
engineering in the State of New Jersey. Any vacancy in such office occurring
other than by expiration of term shall be filled by the Township Committee
for the unexpired portion of the term only.
The Township Engineer shall have such powers and duties as are prescribed
by the Township Committee and as may be provided for by general law and this
Code.
The Township Engineer shall receive compensation based upon a professional
services resolution adopted by the Township Committee and pursuant to budget
appropriations.
