Whenever any words and phrases are used in this
Part 2, the meanings respectively ascribed to them in Subtitle 1 of
Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey shall be deemed to
apply to such words and phrases used herein.
All former traffic ordinances of the Borough
of Rockaway are hereby repealed, and all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict with or inconsistent with the provisions of this Part
2 are hereby repealed, except that this repeal shall not affect or
prevent the prosecution or punishment of any person for any act done
or committed in violation of any ordinance hereby repealed prior to
the taking effect of this Part 2.

Unless a penalty is otherwise expressly provided by New Jersey statute or under any provision of this chapter, any other chapter of this Code or any other ordinance of the Borough of Rockaway, any person convicted of a violation of any provision of Part 2 shall be subject to a maximum fine of $700. Nothing herein shall be construed to preclude the court from exercising any authority under New Jersey statute or the Rules of Court to waive and/or impose community service in lieu of payment of a fine.
