The Town of Clifton Park herein and hereby creates
the office of Town Security Officers, the holders of which position
shall be Town officers and shall exercise the official authority of
the Town under the New York State Town Law.
The Town Board is herein authorized to employ
a Chief Security Officer and as many as 12 security officers to meet
the needs of the Town, as detailed by the Town Board.

A. The security officers are herein provided with the
authority, responsibility and powers set forth in §§ 20
and 39 of the New York State Town Law, which is herein and hereby
incorporated by reference, and such other powers in both civil and
criminal matters as may be provided by law.
B. Security officers shall perform essential functions
of Town government, to include responsibility for the enforcement
of provisions of all Town codes, ordinances and local laws, rules,
regulations or resolutions of the Town Board, as pertains to the public
safety, protection and preservation of Town parks, Town properties,
buildings, structures and areas under the control and maintenance
of the Town and its officers. Security officers shall generally act,
assist and advise any persons or citizens so as to protect their health,
safety and welfare. Town security officers will be additionally empowered
to assist all Town officials in the exercise of their official duties,
to include serving as Town Court officers when necessary.
C. All such security officers shall have the power to
issue notices of violation and appearance tickets as provided by
Article 150 of the CPL, and other accusatory instruments relative
to the exercise of their official duties in the enforcement of local
laws, codes and ordinances. In the course of such enforcement responsibilities,
the security officers shall have the authority to seize and confiscate
any property, thing or device used in violation of this article. Where
appropriate, Town security officers shall, as part of their official
duties, have the authority to enforce directly any such violations
occurring in their presence while in the performance of their official
duties and to direct removal of any persons violating the Town codes,
ordinances or local laws from Town parks, buildings, properties, facilities,
structures or areas under the lawful control and maintenance of the
Town.
D. The security officers shall be responsible for the
removal and disposition of all abandoned vehicles within the boundaries
of the Town in conformance with and pursuant to all applicable state
and local laws.
