This article shall be known as the "Township Manager Ordinance of Hanover
Township, as amended."
The office of Township Manager is hereby created pursuant to Section
1301 of the Second Class Township Code, P.L. 350, No. 60, as amended.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The duly elected Board of Supervisors of Hanover Township, Northampton
County, Pennsylvania.
TOWNSHIP
Hanover Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
TOWNSHIP MANAGER
That individual elected and appointed by the Board of Supervisors
pursuant to the terms and conditions of this article.
The Township Manager shall be chosen solely on the basis of executive
and administrative abilities, with special reference to the duties of the
office as herein outlined. The Township Manager need not be a resident of
the Township or the County of Northampton but must reside within close proximity
as to be available to the Township for the performance of unusual duties as
well as emergency duties.
The Board of Supervisors shall have the right, from time to time, whenever
there is a vacancy, by majority vote, to elect one person to fill the office
of Township Manager, who will serve until his/her successor is elected and
qualified. Any such Township Manager so elected by the Board of Supervisors
shall be subject to removal by said Board of Supervisors by majority vote
of all members. At least 30 days before such removal is to be effective, the
Board of Supervisors shall furnish the Township Manager with a written statement
setting forth its intention to remove him/her.
