The purpose of this article is the regulation of the hours of operation
of gasoline service stations within the Borough of Closter in the interest
of residential districts and residential dwellings in or near the vicinity
of presently existing gasoline service stations, it being an objective of
this article to:
A. Eliminate the source of any annoyance through light or
noise to the residents of the borough during their hours of rest and to otherwise
ensure the continued peaceful enjoyment of their homes.
B. Protect the health and safety of any persons who would
otherwise be employed in a cash business during predawn hours.

All gasoline service stations in the Borough of Closter are prohibited
from being open for business during the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m.
local standard time (2400 and 0600 hours) on any day in the interest of the
health, welfare and protection of the citizens of the borough.
No part of this article should be construed as prohibiting emergency
towing or on-the-road repairs.
All bell signals or alert devices utilized for notice of vehicle access to a gasoline service station shall be disconnected during the prohibited hours of operation as set forth in §
112-2 of this article.

Any person who shall violate a provision of this article, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as set forth in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, Violations and Penalties, of this Code.
The Chief of Police and members of the Borough of Closter Police Department
shall have authority to enforce the provisions of this article, and each of
them shall hereinafter be referred to as an enforcement officer.
