Subject to a permissive referendum,[1] the number of Town Justices in the Town of Cato shall be reduced
from two Justices to one Justice.

Editor's Note: No valid petition was filed.
Upon the expiration of the term of office of the Justice first elected,
December 31, 1997, the term of office shall expire and the same not be renewed.
The term of office of the second-elected Justice shall remain in effect
and shall be elected thereafter for four-year terms.
