Before any sewers are connected to the public sanitary
sewage disposal system, permits for such installation shall be obtained
from the City Clerk. There shall be a permit fee as set forth from
time to time by resolution of the City Commission.[1] There shall be but one (1) permit on each job.
In cases where it is necessary to connect a new outlet
to a sewer lateral, the permit and inspection fees therefor shall
be as set forth from time to time by resolution of the City Commission[2] in each instance.
Vitrified clay pipe, standard strength, conforming
to ASTM Specification C-700, latest edition. All pieces of vitrified
clay pipe shall be joined utilizing a compression-type joint conforming
to ASTM Specification C-425, latest edition.
Cast-iron or ductile iron soil pipe conforming to
ANSI Specification A21.14, latest edition. The iron soil pipe shall
be either standard or extra-heavy weight as determined by the Plumbing
Inspector of the city. All iron pipe shall be bell-and-spigot type
and shall be joined with firmly packed oakum and filled with molten
lead for a depth of not less than one (1) inch, or compressor-type
rubber joints may be used, as approved by the Plumbing Inspector.
All materials to be used for house sewers shall be of a domestic manufacturer.
All trench foundations shall be formed to prevent
any settlement of pipes laid thereon. All pipes shall be laid in straight
alignment on a grade of not less than one-fourth (1/4) inch per foot
except where specifically approved by the Plumbing Inspector of the
city. All changes in direction shall be made by use of Y-branch fittings
or a combination of fittings as specified by plumbing codes of the
city.[1] No short-term one-fourth-inch bends will be allowed.
Connection of all house sewers to the public sewers
shall be made at the nearest Y-branch or other connection provided
by the city. No saddle hubs or similar connections will be allowed.
All house sewers located beneath driveways and having
a cover of less than thirty (30) inches shall be cast-iron pipe or
ductile iron pipe. All piping installed in areas not covered by driveways
and having a cover of less than twelve (12) inches shall be constructed
of cast-iron pipe or ductile iron pipe.
All septic tanks within the city limits which are
disconnected from service shall be properly cleaned, filled with clean
soil or sand and sealed in a manner acceptable to the Plumbing Inspector
of the city.
The Plumbing Inspector (or other duly appointed
representative of the city acting in such capacity) will inspect the
installation of all house sewers and public sewer connections and
all excavating for installing or repairing the same.STRING
