Any property owner in the Town not currently connected to the
Town sewer system, and having access to a sewer main, may apply to
the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for an allocation of sewer gallonage
for the purpose of connecting to the Town sewer system. The application
shall be on a sewer connection permit application form available at
the Boonton Construction Department.
Any property owner receiving an allocation of sewer gallonage
from the Mayor and Board of Aldermen shall have a period of one year
to utilize the allocation and connect to the Town sewer system. The
one-year time limit shall begin at the date of approval of the sewer
gallonage allocation by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Any property owner unable to utilize a sewer gallonage allocation
within the required one-year time period may request from the Mayor
and Board of Aldermen an extension of time to make the connection
to the Town sewer system. The request shall set forth in detail the
reasons and circumstances surrounding why the allocation was not utilized
within the one-year time limit. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen may,
following a review of the request, grant an extension of time not
to exceed one year from the expiration date of the original one-year
time limit. No property owner may receive more than one extension
of the time limit.
Any property owner in receipt of an allocation of sewer gallonage who fails to connect to the Town sewer system within the time periods outlined in §§
229-28 and
229-29 above shall forfeit his or her sewer gallonage allocation. Following the forfeiture, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen may allocate this gallonage to another property owner who has applied for an allocation of sewer gallonage.
