As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
COUNCIL
The Council for local emergency management. The Council may
also be known and referred to as the "Local Emergency Management Council."
EMERGENCY
Any flood, blizzard, frost, hurricane, storm, tornado, high
water, wind-driven water, tidal wave, drought, fire, explosion, civil
disorder or other catastrophe which is or threatens to be of sufficient
severity and magnitude to substantially endanger the health, safety
and property of the citizens of the Township of Monroe.
The Monroe Township Local Emergency Management
Council shall meet at such times as may be necessary to fulfill the
requirements set forth in this chapter or at any time during an emergency
situation as requested by the mayor.
The Monroe Township Local Emergency Management
Council shall be authorized to assist the municipality in establishing
the various local volunteer agencies needed to meet the requirements
of all local emergency management activities in accordance with rules
and regulations established by state law and to assist in the supervisory
and coordination of the emergency management activities of the local
municipality.
The provisions of this chapter shall be deemed
to be additional and supplemental to any existing authority to provide
emergency relief and shall not be deemed in derogation of any such
existing authority.
