The provisions of this article shall apply except
when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other
traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or
official traffic control device.
A. During the period between December 1 of each year
and March 31 in the next proceeding year, both days inclusive, no
person shall cause to have parked a vehicle on a public street within
the Village of Wappingers Falls between the hours of 12:00 midnight
and 7:00 a.m. the next morning.
B. "Emergency," for the purpose of this chapter, shall
mean any unforeseen occurrence or sudden and urgent occasion for action.
C. Implementation and enforcement of this section may
be controlled, amended or varied from time to time by official resolution
of the Village Board of Trustees for the Village of Wappingers Falls.

D. Any person violating the provisions of this section
shall be guilty of a traffic infraction and upon conviction shall
be punished as provided in the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State
of New York. In addition thereto, any motor vehicle parked in violation
of this section shall be subject to towing at the owner's expense.
No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XII (§
143-50), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall stop a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XIII (§
143-51), attached to and made a part of this chapter.

No person shall stop any vehicle upon any sidewalk
or planting strip within the Village limits.
No person shall stand a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XIV (§
143-52), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle between the hours specified in Schedule XV (§
143-53), of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.

No person shall stop a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVI (§
143-54), of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall stand a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVII (§
143-55), of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle for longer than the time limit shown in Schedule XVIII (§
143-56), at any time between the hours listed in said schedule of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XIX (§
143-57), attached to and made a part of this chapter, except at the angle designated and only within the painted stall lines. On all streets or portions thereof where angle parking is now or shall hereafter be authorized, all vehicles parked thereon shall be parked with the front thereof nearest the curb.
The locations described in Schedule XX (§
143-58), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as loading zones.
The locations described in Schedule XXI (§
143-59), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as taxi stands.
The locations described in Schedule XXII (§
143-60), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as bus stops.
Any vehicle when stopped parallel to the curb
shall be as near to the curb as practicable, with both front and rear
wheels not more than six inches from the curb. This item applies to
all parking near to a curb in the village limits.
No vehicle shall stop with its left side to
the curb, except in such streets as may be designated as one-way traffic
streets and where road excavations or other legalized obstructions
prevent the operation of this regulation.
No person shall suffer any vehicle to remain
parked in front of any firehouse within the village nor in any area
marked FIRE ZONE within the village limits.
No person shall park any vehicle more than 15
feet to the left or right of any hydrant within the village limits
nor upon any crosswalk within the village limits.
The highways or parts thereof described in Schedule XXIII (§
143-61), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby established as special purpose parking zones, and it shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle or allow the same to remain parked in any such zone except as specifically provided for such zone.
No person shall park any vehicle in any area indicated as "No Parking Here To Corner" designated by signs, such locations described in Schedule XXIV (§
143-62), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
Any street or a part of a street may be temporarily
closed to parking for any length of time as deemed necessary by the
Commissioner of Police for safety reasons not to exceed one day. Such
situations would be fires, parades, events which draw excessive vehicles,
weather conditions, etc. When such action occurs, the Commissioner
of Police will notify the Mayor or his designee and advise the reason
for the prohibition of parking and the length of time it will last.
