The Louisa Volunteer Fire Company is hereby
designated as the Fire Department of this Town.
The organization of the Fire Department and
the number of full-time and volunteer members and the ranks of members
shall be as from time to time established by the bylaws of the Fire
Company.
The Chief of the Louisa Volunteer Fire Company
shall be the Chief of the Fire Department.
The Chief of the Fire Department, his assistant,
other officers and firemen of the Fire Department shall have the powers
and perform the duties prescribed for them in all applicable provisions
of Title 27 of the Code of Virginia and as provided in this Code and
other ordinances and resolutions of the Town Council not inconsistent
with state law.
No person shall, except in the line of duty
or by permission of the Chief of the Fire Department, take from its
proper place or use any item of property belonging or assigned to
the Fire Department.
The Louisa Volunteer Fire Company is hereby
designated to be an integral part of the Official Safety Program of
the Town for the purposes of the Line of Duty Act, § 9.1-400
et seq., of the Code of Virginia.
