All connections of decks, walks, sidewalks or
any other similar object from private properties to the Rehoboth Beach
Boardwalk shall be of breakaway design. The vertical load from the
connection may rest upon a ledger attached to the Boardwalk; however,
lateral and upward loads may only be restrained using smooth shank
nails, maximum 12d in size. The design of the private deck, walk,
sidewalks, etc., shall also be breakaway and shall be approved by
the City prior to construction. See typical detail below.
