A Park Commission is herewith constituted to supervise the several existing Town-owned parks and recreation areas within the Town of Ellington and such areas as may be acquired or established in the future.
The Park Commission is authorized and empowered to promulgate and enforce regulations for the administration and control of all recreational areas and parks within its jurisdiction.
The Park Commission shall consist of seven electors of the Town of Ellington who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for four-year terms commencing on July 1 in the year of appointment. Members presently serving shall be appointed as follows: two to serve until July 1, 1974, two to serve until July 1, 1975, two to serve to July 1, 1976, and one to serve until July 1, 1977. All members shall serve until their successors have been appointed and qualified. Any vacancies shall be filled by the Board of Selectmen for the balance of the term vacated. Any member of the Commission may be removed for cause by the Board of Selectmen and, on request of such member, after public hearing.
Members of the Commission shall receive no compensation for their service but shall be reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in performance of their official duties.
