The Municipal Administrator shall be appointed
by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council.
The Municipal Administrator shall serve during
the term of office of the Mayor appointing him and until the appointment
and qualification of his successor.
The Municipal Administrator shall be a full-time
professional public administrator. The Municipal Administrator shall
possess such qualifications deemed necessary for the position by the
Mayor and Council in their respective appointment and confirmation
decision; however, he shall be chosen solely on the basis of his executive
and administrative qualifications with special reference to his actual
experience in, or his knowledge of, accepted practice in respect to
the duties of his office.

The Municipal Administrator is not required
to be a resident of the Township. However, given the demands of the
position and the desire to have the Municipal Administrator recognized
as an important resource in the community, it is preferred, if feasible,
that the Municipal Administrator reside in the Township.
The Municipal Administrator shall be paid in
accordance with the Salary Schedule of the Township of Burlington.
In the event that there is a vacancy in the position of Municipal Administrator or in the event the Municipal Administrator is absent, disabled or disqualified for whatever reason, the Mayor shall have the power to designate an Acting Administrator pursuant to §
20-13 of this chapter to act in place of the Municipal Administrator, and any action taken by this person shall be deemed the official action of the Municipal Administrator.
The Municipal Administrator may be removed as
follows:
A. By the Mayor. The Mayor may in his discretion remove from office the Township Administrator after notice and an opportunity to be heard. Prior to removing the Municipal Administrator, the Mayor shall first comply with the provisions of §
20-11I of this chapter.
B. By the Council. The Council may remove the Municipal Administrator from office for cause in conformity with the procedures set forth under §§
20-19G(5) and
20-22 of this chapter.
