Borough of South River, NJ Article IV Mechanic

[Adopted 3-24-1983 by Ord. No. 1983-8 (Ch. 57, Art. IV, of the 1977 Code)]

§ 86-12 Establishment.

There shall be created within the Borough of South River the position of Mechanic under the direct supervision of the Department head.

§ 86-13 Qualifications for appointment.

Any person to be appointed to the position of Mechanic shall be qualified to repair any type of gasoline and diesel combustion engine for automobile and trucks and related items.

§ 86-14 Duties.

Any person classified as a Mechanic shall be responsible for:

A. Mechanical upkeep of all vehicles and equipment.

B. Maintaining a preventive maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment.

C. Supervising the work of lesser grade mechanics.

D. Nontechnical work, i.e., grease jobs, tire changes, engine tuneups, etc.

E. Performing other duties as may be assigned.
