A. 
The Rescue Chief, Captain and Lieutenants shall be elected by the active members of the Rescue Squad for a term of one year starting January 1 and shall be subject to approval by the Mayor and Council.
B. 
Eligible candidates shall be determined by the Chief prior to the November Rescue meeting and announced at the meeting.
C. 
Nomination of officers will be held at the November rescue meeting.
D. 
Election of officers will be conducted at the December rescue meeting. Nominations will be opened at the December meeting.
E. 
In the event of a vacancy during the term of office, the Chief shall appoint a qualified member to fill in until the next regular election.

(1) 
Active member in good standing.
(2) 
Qualified on all rescue equipment.
(3) 
Certified in first aid and CPR.
(4) 
Certified in vehicle extrication.
(5) 
Certified in approved heavy rescue.
(6) 
Must have been an active member at least three years at the time of elections.
(7) 
Qualified driver of all trucks.
(8) 
Must have served as Captain for a period of one full year.
B. 
Captain.
(1) 
Active member in good standing.
(2) 
Qualified on all rescue equipment.
(3) 
Certified in first aid and CPR.
(4) 
Certified in vehicle extrication.
(5) 
Certified in approved heavy rescue.
(6) 
Must have been an active member at least three years at the time of elections.
(7) 
Qualified driver of all trucks.
(8) 
Must have served as Lieutenant for a period of one full year.
C. 
Lieutenant.
(1) 
Active member in good standing.
(2) 
Qualified on all rescue equipment.
(3)

Qualified driver of all trucks.

All members, by the process of accepting a nomination, profess that they are current in all requirements listed above, and that they fully understand the responsibility for the position that they are attempting to be elected to. Any elected member who is challenged to be deficient for the position must supply to the Board of Rescue Officers valid certification(s) in question within three days, or forfeit the position. Any member found to knowingly be deficient and running for an elected position shall vacate the elected office and be automatically suspended for a period of 30 days.
