[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of the City of Paterson 6-27-1989 as Ord. No. 89-043, amended in its entirety 7-11-1995 by Ord. No. 95-047. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
A. 
The City Tax Collector shall impose the following service charges to be added to any account owing to the City of Paterson:
(1) 
Twenty dollars ($20.) for any check or other written instrument returned for insufficient funds.
(2) 
Ten dollars ($10.) for redemption statement.
(3) 
Two dollars ($2.) for issuance of duplicate tax and sewer bills.
(4) 
Ten dollars ($10.) for written responses to inquiries regarding tax payments.
(5) 
Five dollars ($5.) for written responses, per block and lot, to requests of the Tax Assessors' office for information available on computer, i.e., ownership and assessments.
(6) 
Five dollars ($5.) for written responses to requests of the Tax Assessors' office for information not on computer, i.e., per field pad or property record card, etc.
B. 
If the payment for which a check or other written instrument has been returned for insufficient funds is for a tax or special assessment, the twenty-dollar service charge shall be included on any list of delinquent accounts prepared for the enforcement of liens.
C. 
Any service charge authorized by Subsection A(1) shall be collected, in cash or by certified or cashier's check, in the same manner prescribed by law for the collection of the account for which the check or other written instrument was tendered.
D. 
Persons aged sixty-five (65) and older shall be exempt from the fees specified under Subsection A(2), (3) and (4).
