No person shall sell or expose for sale in any restaurant, hotel or
other place where food products are sold any article of food which is falsely
represented to be kosher, either:
A. By direct statements, orally or in writing, which are
untrue, deceptive or misleading;
B. By the display of the word "kosher" in English or Hebrew
letters or by the display of any sign or mark in simulation of that word;
C. By having or permitting to be inscribed on any food product
or on any package or container or its contents the word "kosher" in any language;
or
D. By display of any insignia, six-pointed star or any mark
which might reasonably be calculated to deceive or lead a reasonable person
to believe that a representation is being made that the food exposed for sale
or sold is kosher or prepared in accordance with orthodox Hebrew religious
requirements.
The removal of any seal or inscription from meat or food preparation
already certified as "kosher" and the affixing of such seal or inscription
on some other product will be deemed evidence of attempt to defraud.
Any person who violates any provision of this Article shall, upon conviction
thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.),
imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days or a period of community service
for not more than ninety (90) days, or any combination thereof.

No meat shall be sold or offered for sale for human consumption in the
city unless the same shall be procured from the carcass of an animal which:
A. Has been inspected, at the time of slaughter, by the
United States Department of Agriculture or by the Health Division or an agent
thereof; and
B. Bears the official stamp of the United States Department
of Agriculture or the official stamp of the Health Division of the city or
such other stamp approved by the Health Division.
The presence of any carcass of any cattle, calf, sheep, lamb, goat or
swine in any market or store within the city shall be deemed prima facie evidence
that said carcass is for sale or is exposed for sale.
No person shall forge, counterfeit, simulate or falsely represent or
without authority use or detach or wrongfully alter, deface or destroy any
of the stamps, brands or marks recognized by the Health Division on any cattle,
calf, sheep, lamb, goat or swine or on any part or parts of any carcass or
carcasses of any of the above-mentioned animals.
The carcass of any cattle, calf, sheep, lamb, goat or swine or any part
thereof offered or exposed for sale in the city which does not bear the meat
inspection marks or brands recognized by the Health Division shall be condemned
and destroyed by the Health Officer or by his order.
For the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this Article, the Health
Officer or his agents shall have the right to enter at any hour in or upon
any land or premises wherein or whereon any meat, carcass or carcasses of
any cattle, calf, sheep, lamb, goat or swine may be held or found.
Nothing contained in this Article shall be construed as repealing any
of the following sections of the Sanitary Code of the City of Paterson, passed
January 24, 1905: Sections 7, 8, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 69, 70 and 72.
Any person who violates any provision of this Article shall, upon conviction
thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000.),
by imprisonment for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days or by a period of
community service for not more than ninety (90) days, or any combination thereof.
A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which
a violation occurs or continues.
