The Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village
of Northport finds that certain classes of its employees whose positions
have been declared managerial and/or confidential by the Public Employment
Relations Board, or where said positions have been excluded from Village
employee bargaining units, are entitled to receive the same benefits
accorded to Village employees who are members of collective bargaining
units. The Village further finds that to effectuate this policy it
is necessary, pursuant to § 92 of the General Municipal
Law with regard to the particular benefit of payment of accumulated
sick leave at termination, that this article be adopted to authorize
such benefit payment of accumulated sick leave at termination.
[Amended 5-2-1989 by L.L. No. 4-1989; 11-7-1989 by L.L. No. 9-1989; 8-17-1999 by L.L. No. 12-1999]
The incumbents of the following positions shall
be entitled to receive, after five years of continuous full-time active
service, the monetary value of all accumulated, unused sick leave
at the time of retirement or separation (other than termination for
cause) to a maximum of 193 days. The monetary value shall be calculated
at the per-diem salary rate of the individual at the time of retirement
or separation from active service. The positions covered shall be
all full-time non-bargaining-unit employees.
