Pursuant to the provisions of the Sewerage Authorities Law of the State
of New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 40:14A-1 et seq., and the amendments and supplements
thereto, there is hereby created a public body corporate and politic under
the name and style of "Readington-Lebanon Sewerage Authority."
The Readington-Lebanon Sewerage Authority hereby created is a sewerage
authority as contemplated and provided for by said Sewerage Authorities Law
and shall have and exercise all of the powers and perform all of the duties
provided for by said Sewerage Authorities Law and any other statutes heretofore
or hereafter enacted and applicable thereto.
The Readington-Lebanon Sewerage Authority shall consist of six members,
of whom three members shall be appointed by the governing body of the Township
of Readington and three members shall be appointed by the governing body of
the Borough of Lebanon in accordance with the provisions of the Sewerage Authorities
Law.
Members of the Readington-Lebanon Sewerage Authority shall not receive
any compensation for their services as members, but said Authority may reimburse
its members for necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties
as provided for in N.J.S.A. 40:14A-5(d).
The Township Committee of the Township of Readington, in order to more
expeditiously eliminate the sewage problem confronting it and to further implement
early action on the part of the Authority in the abatement of the pollution
of the Rockaway Creek watershed, does hereby covenant and agree to and with
each of the other municipalities joining in the creation of the Authority
that it will become a service-contracting municipality with the Authority
created by the parallel action of the Township of Readington and the Borough
of Lebanon.
A copy of this article, duly certified by the Clerk of the Township
of Readington, shall forthwith upon its adoption be filed by said Township
Clerk in the office of the Secretary of State of the State of New Jersey.
A copy of the resolution appointing the members of the Readington-Lebanon
Sewerage Authority, as hereinabove provided, duly certified by the Clerk of
the Township of Readington, shall forthwith upon its adoption be filed by
said Clerk in the office of the Secretary of State of the State of New Jersey.
