Pursuant to the authority of Subdivision 1 of § 27 of the Executive Law of the State of New York, the Town Board of the Town of Cheektowaga hereby provides for the continuity of town government during a natural or man-made disaster.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, if the Supervisor of the Town of Cheektowaga is absent from the territorial boundaries of the town or is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the following Town Board members, if not disabled or absent from the town, in the order of succession so listed, shall be empowered to act in the capacity of Supervisor:
A. 
Deputy Supervisor.
B. 
The remaining Town Board members in descending order from the most senior Town Board member, as determined by longevity in office.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State in accordance with § 27 of the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York.
