[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Cheektowaga 10-21-1985 as Ch. 36 of the 1985 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
It shall be the duty of every owner or occupant of a building in the Town of Cheektowaga to cause to be displayed thereon the street number of said building, and at all times to maintain such number in compliance with the provisions of the ordinances of the Town of Cheektowaga. The figure or figures comprising said number shall be at least four inches in height and shall be placed on said building in such a manner as to be plainly legible from the center of the said street at all times between sunrise and sunset. The color of said numbers shall be in sharp contrast to the color of their background. Such numbers shall be placed on the top riser of the steps leading to the front entrance of said building, or other permanent place on the front of the building.
Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this chapter shall be liable to a fine or penalty of not to exceed $25.
It shall be the duty of the Board of Assessors to prepare a map or roster and to assign and show on said map or roster the number or numbers embracing the limits of the various lots or lands in said town, and to furnish, upon application thereto by any party, the number or numbers belonging to or embraced within the limits of said lot or parcels of land as provided in § 73-1.
This chapter shall take effect on the first of February 1938.
