The Mayor and Council shall, in the manner provided
in N.J.S.A. 40A:60-6, appoint a Tax Collector.
The Tax Collector shall hold office for a term
of four years from the first day of January next following his appointment.
Vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by
appointment for the unexpired term. Tenure of the Tax Collector shall
be in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-144 and 40A:9-145.
The Tax Collector shall satisfy the qualifications
set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:9-145.2 through 40A:9-145.12.
