The position of General Code Enforcement Officer is hereby established.
This person may also serve as the Zoning Officer.
The General Code Enforcement Officer shall be appointed by the Township
Committee on an annual basis upon his/her qualifications involving knowledge
and interpretive ability of general ordinances and specifically the Code of
the Township of Bethlehem, personal demeanor and good public relations, good
judgment and overall administrative ability to fulfill all of the aspects
and duties of the office.
The General Code Enforcement Officer shall be responsible for enforcing the general ordinances and the Code of the Township of Bethlehem, except for Chapter
102, Land Use and Development, unless the General Code Enforcement Officer is also serving in the position of Zoning Officer. The General Code Enforcement Officer shall respond to citizens' complaints and inquiries regarding the Code of the township, make independent inspection of potential situations or alleged violations and enforce compliance with conservation easements; and recommend, direct or other such remedial actions of the ceasing of such actions or activity or otherwise; and shall have the power on behalf of the township, and where necessary upon consultation with the Township Attorney, to issue summons and complaints; and institute such other lawful actions as may be necessary to secure compliance with the general Code of the Township of Bethlehem.
The General Code Enforcement Officer shall be paid for the services
performed in accordance with an agreement with the Township Committee.
