This chapter shall be known and may be cited
as the "City of Auburn Traffic and Vehicles Ordinance."
The Department of Public Works and Parks shall
install and maintain traffic control devices when and as required
under the provisions of this chapter to make effective the provisions
of this chapter and shall install and maintain such additional traffic
control devices as the Council may deem necessary to regulate, warn
or guide traffic under the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of
New York, subject to the provisions of §§ 1682 and
1684 of that law.
Pursuant to the provisions of § 1603(a)
of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, power is hereby delegated to the City
Manager to exercise, by official order, rule or regulation, the following
powers granted to the Council of this City in Article 39 of the Vehicle
and Traffic Law, subject to the limitations imposed by §§ 1643
and 1684 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and not inconsistent with
any ordinances heretofore or hereafter enacted:
A. To provide for the installation, operation, maintenance,
policing and supervision of parking meters.
B. To provide for pedestrian crossings and safety zones
in the congested district established in § 60.5 of this
chapter.
