Editor's Note: A resolution adopted 2-18-2010 provided that former Art. XI, Impounding and Towing, consisting of §§ 285-48 through 285-53, be redesignated as Art. XII and its sections renumbered as §§ 285-51 through 285-56. This resolution also provided that former Art. XII, Parking of Unregistered Motor Vehicles, consisting of §§  285-54 through 285-56, be redesignated as Art. XI and its sections renumbered as §§ 285-48 through 285-50.
It shall be illegal to park upon any street within the City of Auburn a vehicle which is not registered pursuant to Article 14 of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law or has had its registration suspended or revoked pursuant to the said Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The members of the Auburn Police Department shall have the authority to remove any vehicle referenced in this article, and may store such vehicle in a suitable place and at the expense of the owner. Such owner, or person in charge of the vehicle, may redeem the same upon payment to the towing company and storage companies of all expenses actually or necessarily incurred in effecting such removal.
The members of the Auburn Police Department causing such removal shall without delay report the removing and disposition of any vehicle removed as provided in this article to the Police Department and it shall be the duty of such Police Department to ascertain, to the extent possible, the owner of the vehicle or person having the same in charge and notify them of the removal and disposition of said vehicle and of the amount which will be required to redeem the same.
