Realty transfer tax — See Ch. 152, Art. IV.
A registry of the ownership of all real estate in the Township of Abington, County of Montgomery, Pennsylvania, is hereby established.
The Township Engineer shall cause to be made all necessary books, maps and plans as will show the situation and dimensions of each property in the Township, the house number, if any, and the name of the owner or owners thereof, with blank spaces to insert the name of the owner of each lot, with provision for the names of future owners and dates of future transfers of title. For such purpose, the Township Engineer shall have free access, without charge, to any of the public records wherein the necessary information may be obtainable therefor, and may also cause search to be made in any other place for any muniments or evidence of title not reported to the Engineer and requisite for the completion of such books, maps or plans. All such books, maps and plans shall be carefully preserved in the office of the Township Engineer and shall be so kept, by additions from time to time, as to show at all times the ownership of every lot or piece of real estate or subdivisions thereof within the limits of Abington Township, with the successive transmissions of title from the date of this chapter.
Certified copies, under the hand of the Township Engineer, of any of the entries in said books or upon said maps or plans, shall be furnished to any person desiring the same upon the payment of a fee of $0.50 per page.[1]
