The Town of Stratford shall have an Arts Commission charged with promotion, development and acceptance of artistic and cultural activities, which shall include, but are not limited to, music, theater, dance, painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, films and allied arts and crafts.

The Arts Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Town Council as provided by the Charter, each of whom shall serve for a term of three years.

The Arts Commission shall have three alternate members appointed by the Mayor who shall serve for terms of three years.
Alternate members may attend all meetings of the Arts Commission and discuss any and all agenda items. Alternate members shall, in rotation, substitute for an absent regular member at any meeting of the Arts Commission, during which substitution the alternate member shall have the right to vote on any matter introduced, which right to vote shall continue until such matter is disposed of.
