The Building Inspector is authorized and directed to assign, correct
and verify address numbers.
A. Every building, including but not limited to dwellings,
apartment buildings, condominiums and business establishments, shall have
affixed thereto a number representing the address of such building. Said number
shall be four inches minimum height, of high contrast and affixed in a location
to be readily readable from the private or public way on which such building
is located.
B. If the address number cannot be read as located above, in addition, such number shall be affixed to a sign (less than one square foot) at the intersection of the private or public way on which such building is located (same size and contrast as number affixed to building). Four-inch numbers attached to both sides of a mailbox shall be considered an acceptable alternative to a sign, when said mailbox is located on the same side of the private or public way as the building, except for estate lots as described in §
145-26 of Chapter
145, Zoning, of the Code of the Town of Belchertown (as amended).
The fine for any violation of this chapter shall be not more than $50.
