Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:3-10, the Township adopts the provisions of
Subdivision B of Article 1, Chapter 3, Title 26 (N.J.S.A. 26:3-3) of the New
Jersey statutes. There shall be a Board of Health of the Township of Freehold
consisting of seven members and two alternates.

A. The members constituting the Board of Health
shall be appointed by resolution of the Township Committee for a term of three
years. One of the members may be, in the discretion of the Township Committee,
the municipal physician, who does not have to be a resident of the Township.
One of the members may be, in the discretion of the Township Committee, a
licensed physician of the State of New Jersey who shall be a resident of the
Township. One of the members may be, in the discretion of the Township Committee,
a school nurse of one of the Township's schools, who does not have to be a
resident of the Township. One of the members shall be a member of the Township
Committee whose term on such Board shall be concurrent with his/her term on
the Township Committee. All other members constituting the Board of Health
shall be residents of the Township.
B. Two alternate members of the Board of Health
may be appointed by resolution of the Township Committee. Alternate members
of the Board of Health shall be residents of the Township. The alternate members
shall be designated "Alternate No. 1" and "Alternate No. 2." The initial appointment
for Alternate No. 1 shall be for two years, and the initial appointment for
Alternate No. 2 shall be for one year. All terms thereafter shall be for two
years.
C. If any vacancies occur among the members or
alternates of the Board of Health, they shall be filled by resolution of the
Township Committee but only for the unexpired portion of such terms.
D. All members and alternates of the Board shall
serve without compensation, except that the members and alternates of the
Board shall be reimbursed by the Township for expenses incurred while performing
any function as a member or alternate of the Board.
