[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Shaler 11-18-1964 by Ord. No. 1050. Amendments noted where applicable.]
Whereas the North Hills Library was established to provide library service to the residents and taxpayers of the Township of Shaler, it is hereby authorized by the Board of Commissioners that the Board does designate the Library to act as a legal agent of the Township of Shaler for the purpose of providing public library service to said residents for and on behalf of the Township of Shaler.

The Township of Shaler does hereby agree to assist in the maintenance of the Shaler North Hills Library, from this time on to be known and designated as the "Shaler North Hills Library," in accordance with the provisions of Section 401 of the Library Code, Act of June 14, 1961, P.L. 324.[1]

In accordance with Section 411 of the said Library Code,[1] the Township does hereby appoint seven persons to serve as its representatives on the Board of Directors of the Township of Shaler North Hills Library, each representative to serve for the term of three years, the terms of same to expire on different calendar years. All subsequent vacancies thereon shall be filled by the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Shaler.

In accordance with Section 412 of the Library Code,[1] the designated Treasurer of the Board of Directors of said Library shall give a bond to the municipality with satisfactory surety in such amount as the Board of Directors shall determine.

In accordance with Section 413 of the Library Code,[1] the Board of Directors of the Library shall prepare and furnish a financial report annually to the Township of Shaler, and said Township shall arrange to have all accounts of said Treasurer and the Board of Directors of said Library audited annually as in the case of all other municipal expenditures.

The Board of Directors of the Library shall prepare and present to the Township of Shaler such reports as are required by Section 414 of the Library Code,[1] and shall give and provide free library service to the residents and taxpayers of the Township of Shaler as provided in Section 415 of the Library Code.[2]
