Before any house can be connected to any public sanitary sewer,
a permit must first be secured from the Township of Shaler for which
a fee of $2,061, or such other amount as set from time to time by
resolution of the Shaler Township Board of Commissioners, must be
paid.
The lateral sewer from the house to the public sanitary sewer
must be left uncovered until inspected by the Allegheny County Plumbing
Inspector or by his representative or designee. In addition, no surface
roof water, surface, storm or french drain may be permitted to drain
into any public sanitary sewer.
The Township may waive these requirements if the house in question
is situated in the Girty's Run Watershed. The Township shall
determine the applicable watershed and the applicable permit authority.
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of
this article shall, upon conviction thereof before any issuing authority,
forfeit and pay a fine of not more than $1,000 for each offense and
may be sentenced to a period of incarceration not exceeding 90 days
in the Allegheny County Jail. Each incident in violation of this article
shall be considered a separate offense and may be punishable as the
same.
