There shall be a Planning and Economic Development Manager, who shall be appointed by the Mayor for a term of three years, said appointment and term effective immediately upon confirmation by the City Council.
A. 
Reporting directly to the Mayor, it shall be the responsibility of the Planning and Economic Development Manager to coordinate existing and potential development endeavors within the City of Marlborough and serve as liaison between the business community and the City to promote economic growth and development.
B. 
The Planning and Economic Development Manager shall function as the liaison for new and/or expanding corporate and business entities seeking assistance, information and direction with inspectional, regulatory or procedural elements associated with any particular project or development and coordinate, as appropriate, interaction with City departments, boards and commissions.
C. 
The Planning and Economic Development Manager shall serve as liaison between the Marlborough Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Mayor to promote convention and tourism business in the City.
D. 
The Planning and Economic Development Manager shall serve as liaison between the Mayor and the Economic Development Commission to advocate economic development by promoting responsible growth in the City of Marlborough.
E. 
The responsibilities of the Planning and Economic Development Manager shall include coordination and advancement of mass transit programs and planning to address future transit needs, including coordination and interaction with appropriate state, federal and/or regional agencies.
