Every dwelling within the City and every part
thereof shall be kept so clean and free from any accumulation of dirt,
filth, rubbish, refuse, garbage or similar matter as not to be a danger
to the health of any occupant thereof and shall be kept free from
vermin and rodent infestation. It shall be the duty of each occupant
or owner of a dwelling unit to keep in a clean condition that portion
of the property which he or she occupies or over which he or she has
control. If the occupant or owner shall fail to keep his or her portion
of the property clean as above provided, the City may send a written
notice to that occupant or owner requesting him or her to remedy the
condition within the time specified in the notice. Failure of the
occupant or owner to comply with the notice within that time shall
be a violation of this chapter.
No owner or occupant of any land within the
corporate limits of the City shall permit any land to become overgrown
with weeds. Trees and other ornamental grasses are exempt from this
requirement, as long as the same are planted for ornamental, agricultural
or other domestic purposes and are not growing wild.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall periodically
inspect all property in the City to determine compliance with the
requirements of this article.
