There shall be and there hereby is established
a Department of Buildings. There shall be a Commissioner of Buildings
who shall be a member of the Board of Trustees and who shall be appointed
by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, including
the Mayor, for such term as the Board of Trustees shall determine
by resolution. He shall be the head of the Department, shall have
general jurisdiction over and control of the administration of the
Department of Buildings and shall have general supervision over the
duties performed by and charged by this article to the Department.
The Building Inspector, with the consent of
the Commissioner of Buildings, may appoint or employ one or more Deputy
Building Inspectors. Their duties shall be determined by the Building
Inspector. Their compensation shall be fixed by the Commissioner of
Buildings.
