The following regulations shall apply in all
B-5 Districts. A precise plan shall be submitted to the Planning and
Zoning Board by the developer for its approval, and only after obtaining
approval by the Board may the developer obtain a building permit and
proceed with construction of the project.
The purpose of the B-5 District is to delineate
a shopping and business area adjacent to the central retail shopping
and business area in a logical manner that will serve the City as
a whole to promote retail business.
Permitted principal uses in the B-5 District
shall be as follows:
B. Banks and financial institutions.
F. Private commercial schools.
G. Telephone and telegraph offices.
H. Public and semipublic buildings.
I. Baking, confectionery, dressmaking, laundry, printing,
tailoring, upholstering and similar establishments, and all goods
or products manufactured or processed shall be sold at retail on the
premises.
Permitted accessory uses in the B-5 District
shall be as follows:
A. Signs: five-tenths square foot per width of building,
with a maximum size of 30 square feet.
B. Off-street parking lots or garages as approved by
the Planning Board.
C. Other accessory uses customarily incidental to the
principal use.
Special uses in the B-5 District shall be as
follows:
B. Planned unit development.
C. Social halls, lodges and fraternal organizations,
funeral homes and mortuaries.
D. Restaurants, cafes and other places serving food and
beverages.
E. Bed-and-breakfast residences.

In addition to all indoor and outdoor commercial
amusement areas and uses, all prohibited uses in the B-3 District
shall apply to the B-5 District. No other use shall be permitted in
this district.
