This chapter shall be known as the "Smoke Ordinance of the Town of Southport,
Chemung County, New York."
As used in this chapter, unless the context or subject matter otherwise
requires, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
Smoke which has a density of No. 2 or greater, as established by
the Ringelmann Chart.
Any furnace, incinerator, refuse burning equipment, boiler, apparatus,
device, mechanism, stack or structure, including steam locomotives, used in
the process of burning fuel or combustible material.
Ringelmann's Scale for grading the density of smoke, with instructions
for use as now published by US Bureau of Mines.
Small gas and airborne particles consisting, essentially, of carbonaceous
material in sufficient number to be observable.
