Every person, whether principal or agent, entering into or desiring
to begin a transient retail business within the City of Coatesville for the
sale of any goods, ware or merchandise and who hires a place or occupies any
room, apartment, store, building, structure or outdoor place whatever within
the city for the exhibition and/or sale of such goods, wares or merchandise
shall, before commencing such sale, obtain a license from the Codes Department.

The fee to be paid for such license shall be as provided in Chapter
108, Fees, for each month or fractional part thereof and shall be collected by the Codes Department before he or she shall issue any license under the provisions of this article. Such license shall be renewed monthly by the Codes Department upon payment of the license fee herein provided.
Nothing contained in this Article shall be construed to apply to farmers
selling their own produce; the sale of goods, wares and merchandise donated
by the owners thereof, the proceeds whereof are to be applied to any charitable
or philanthropic; or any manufacturer or producer in the sale of bread or
bakery products, meat and meat products or milk products.

Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this article by
failing to secure the license required thereby or to renew such license, as
the case may be, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine
of not more than $600 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county
jail for not more than 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment, provided
that each day's violation of any of the provisions of this article shall constitute
a separate offense.
