The purpose of this article is to authorize
the County of Ulster to take action to assure the provision of mass
transportation services to the public at adequate levels and at reasonable
cost.
Pursuant to the provisions of § 119-r
of the General Municipal Law, the County Legislature of the County
of Ulster may, by resolution, authorize the Chairperson of the County
Legislature to enter into:
A. A contract or contracts for a fair and reasonable
consideration for mass transportation services to be rendered to the
public by a privately owned or operated mass transit facility; or
B. A contract or contracts with any person, firm or corporation,
including a public authority, for the equipment, maintenance or operation
of a mass transit facility owned, acquired, constructed, reconstructed
or improved by it.
